The perfect base to discover the Isle of Skye

With its stunning landscapes and seascapes, together with rich heritage, Skye is a must-visit destination.

Woodbine House is located in Uig on the Trotternish peninsula, a fantastic location for exploring the Isle of Skye.

Whether its touring by car on on foot or bike, you'll going to love what you see.

Always allow plenty of time to get the best out of your visit to our gorgeous island.

Skye's stunning scenery will simply take your breath away. It's magnificent!

Uig Bay

Uig Bay

Uig Bay is simply gorgeous. A sheltered bay with the backdrop of the Trotternish mountains. The gateway to the Outer Hebrides via the CalMac ferry to the Isles of Harris and Uist.

On a clear day you can see Harris and Uist in the distance, as well as the Waternish peninsula. Watch Sea Eagles and Buzzards soar along the coast - a joy to behold. The sunsets are spectacular.

Rha Falls

Rha Falls

This double waterfall on the wooded River Rha in Uig looks spectacular after heavy rain. You might get it to yourself even in high season. 5 minute walk from Woodbine to footpath start.

The Fairy Glen

Fairy Glen

Hidden in the hills above Uig, along the sweeping sides of Glen Conon, the enchanting geographical formations that form the Fairy Glen are a mystical place to visit.

Years of erosion have sculpted the landscape into unusual patterns of cone-shaped craggy hillocks, random boulders, tranquil lochs and even a basalt "castle".

Plentiful parking is available up the glen or you can walk from Woodbine - about 1.75 miles.

The Quiraing

Quiraing

The Quiraing is an enormous geological landslip, created over millions of years.

It is made up of towers, needles and plateaus and is a truly memorable place to explore. It is worth taking a few hours to make the most of this wonderful place.

Plentiful parking available and in season, there is often a coffee kiosk.

Rubha Hunish

Rubha Hunish

Beautiful Rubha Hunish is a magical place and is the best walk on Skye for sea bird and marine mammal watching.

Easy level walking to the lookout. Stunning views across to Harris and Lewis.

An Corran

Staffin Dinosaur Beach (An Corran)

An Corran beach features fossilized dinosaur footprints from the Jurassic period, roughly 166 million years ago.

These easily accessible footprints are found on flat, tide-swept mudstone rocks at An Corran beach. They are best viewed at low tide.

The Storr and Old Man of Storr

The Storr / The Old Man of Storr

The Old Man of Storr is the spectacular rock pinnacle seen for miles around. The Old Man is a short, steep walk from the main car park and is always busy. The Storr itself is a relatively easy walk for Skye and the views from the top are simply outstanding.

These walks require a drive of about 45 minutes from Woodbine House.

Glamaig from Sligachan Old Bridge

The Red & Black Cuillin

Two mountain ranges dominate the landscape on Skye: the Black and Red Cuillin, separated by Glen Sligachan. The Black Cuillin ridge is the UK’s most challenging mountain range. Over 7 miles long and above 3,000 feet in places. The gentler, rounded Red Cuillin are popular with hillwalkers.

Sligachan Old Bridge is the best place to view the Cuillin - about 25 minutes drive from Uig.
